The wedding bells rang for the Ambani clan, for the second time. This time it was Akash Ambani, the eldest son of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani tying the knot with his childhood friend Shloka Mehta. The couple had got engaged last year and took their vows on March 9, 2019.
The Ambanis and the Mehtas celebrated the nuptials with an extravagant three-day celebration in Mumbai. The wedding ceremony took place at Jio World Centre located in Bandra Kurla Complex. The baraat left from the Trident Hotel with a lot of pomp and frolic. Eminent Bollywood personalities including Karan Johar and Ranvir Since were seen to be shaking a leg. Nita and Mukesh Ambani were also in high spirits and were seen enjoying at their son’s wedding. A Magal Parv was held at the same venue followed by a reception. Before the nuptial ceremony, the two families had hosted a three-day pre-wedding in Switzerland. The Swiss town witnessed around 500 guests.
Shloka is the daughter of Mona and Russell Mehta, who run the diamond trading company Rosy Blue and the retail chain Orra. After completing her schooling from the Dhirubhai Ambani School, she left for completing her undergraduate studies at Princeton University. She completed her post-graduation from the London School of Economics and returned to the country in 2014. After coming back, she associated herself with the company’s philanthropic side- Rosy Blue Foundation.
The dreamy wedding ceremony of Akash and Shloka is one of the most expensive and talked about weddings of the year. The guest list had the names of eminent people including Bollywood celebrities and cricketers. Sachin Tendulkar had congratulated the couple on Instagram with a picture. A picture shared by Harbhajan Singh featuring Rajanikanth and Akash and himself had gone viral on the internet. Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh and Gauri Khan, Tony Blair, and his wife were present at the big fat Indian wedding of Akash and Shloka. Sundar Pichai, Ratan Tata, N Chandrasekaran and global heads of JP Morgan, Bank of America and Samsung were also present at the grand wedding. Bipasha Basu had also sent a heartwarming message to the couple, wishing them a happy married life.
The guests were treated with an elaborate spread featuring world cuisines. The highlight of the event was the musical fountain cum dance show which included aerial arts signifying the symmetry of the earth, water, and sky. Around 150 Indian and international artists performed it and the theme was of Raas Lila.
